Tomorrow is the start of National Poetry Writing Month (NaPoWriMo), so I’m getting this post out early. As usual, I am taking up the challenge. Last year was the starting point for a series of books I’ve been writing called A Poetic Journey. The sixth book is in the writing stages now. Each book comprises thirty different poetry forms. At present, I’m searching for an agent/publisher in the Christian publishing world. Needless to say, I’ve been writing poetry non-stop since this time last year and having a blast honing this art.
As a lyricist and poet of forty-plus years, I’ll be offering free coaching and constructive criticism for poetry during NaPoWriMo. It’s always good to have fresh eyes look at our work in order to build us up and make us better writers. I would also welcome that in my own work. Giving and taking advice and learning from other poets is humbling and helpful.
Last year, I opened a Facebook page called “Write Poetry with Me.” My friend Shari and I enjoyed writing poems and sharing them with each other via this closed page. This year, I would like to open this page to others who would like to share their poetic journey (only those who are members of this page will see your work.) I’d appreciate it if you would give me a heads-up and message me below so I can look for your name as you request to join the page. If you are interested, just hop on over to the page and answer a few questions, check out the rules, and pen poetry with us. https://www.facebook.com/groups/3747808002003114/
This is the place to start your poetic journey if you are a beginner or you want to learn how to write poems. Throughout the month, I‘ll be sharing poetic terms, tools, forms, and prompts. I invite you to join me. I hope you will.
