Lovely Vacay Memories
Lovely distraction, memories call:
Fresh pine air, Giant Sequoia trees,
Great Redwoods, so enormously tall,
Lovely blossoms on the Dogwood trees,
Stanislaus River beckoning me,
“Come camp, swim, and sing by the campfire,
Where you feel such peace readily”

Written quickly, it’s not that good. My edited version I like much better, but it has more than 44 words, so I will leave this one here. I grew up camping a couple of times a year at Calaveras Big Trees Amazing childhood memories! One place where my thoughts turn when I seek peaceful places. I took the photo above while walking the North Grove Trail in Calaveras Big Trees some years ago.
Seventy-five indigenous groves of Giant Sequoias grow here in California. These trees live thousands of years. For over a hundred years, people around the world have taken saplings and planted them in other countries, but even one-hundred-year-old sequoias are babies compared to the 3,000 year old giants here in Sequoia National Park, just an hours drive from my home.
