Prompt words from Sunday Whirl: lotus, glows, story, scared,
voicemails, storm, exhale, high, wind, begin, unaware, ghost.
Dreams Lie Here
I begin my story
Not afraid of voicemails;
Wind, storm, or the lotus that glows,
But of the exhale of the ghost,
Which hovers high above my bed.
Although unaware of
Many dangers ahead,
I whisper a name and burrow
Beneath blue, billowy blankets.
Then I wonder, what dreams lie here?
In this old two-story;
In this house filled with tales:
Ghosts after the soldier’s furloughs.
When he portrayed the honored host;
Then, only days later, found dead.
Does he long for his love?
Does he know that he’s dead?
Does he roam these halls in sorrow,
Searching through photos and trinkets?
Does his presence kindle my fear?

Please forgive my absence. After the tragic death of my sister-in-law, Ginny, sorrow overwhelmed me and I retreated. My days turned inward as I reached for my Saviour’s hand, drew near to the One who holds my every tear in a jar and comforts my troubled soul. It’s been just over a month now. My heart is still heavy, and sorrow still finds it’s way onto my pages. I hesitate to depress others with my words, so I have held back. I’ll slowly but surely find my way back to all the fun challenges of daily prompts. Fun is a strange word when the world I’m in seems surreal.
Love to all,
Kaci
Taking time away to grieve is healthy and understandable. So sorry that you had to go through a tragic loss.
Beautiful words you wrote using the prompt words.
Thank you, Teresa. 🙂
