Ship with Wings
Beneath the deck of the ship, I cringe,
While chaos cracks its whip.
The main mast has split into pieces,
This broken, battered ship.
Her last stretch home; he hesitates,
I remember the king’s
Command to save the crew at all costs.
“Breathe, Captain, spin the wheel.
Land, ho!” But Cap said it’s much too late.
The cracking of the keel.
The remainder of the crew prayed, “Lord,
Oh, give this ship her wings!”
I tell you, mate, I’m not spoutin’ lies.
This is how we got here.
For when we woke, golden feathers rained.
The Good Lord lent His ear.
