Poetry Prompt

Sirens

The beasts within the salty vault;
Yes, those with silver voices lilt.
The sirens whereupon the edges halt
The sailors whose ears they tilt;
Stitch their calls within those ears
And lure them with a lyric jaw of death.
Debris of bones they call their dears,
They slather ’neath the tide’s deep depth.

Form: Makeup Kace invented by Kaci Rigney. Structure: Octet, Syllabic: 8.8.10.7.7.10.8.8. Rhyme Scheme: ababcdcd. Metered with an iambic foot. Makeup Kace employs a story, parable, or allegory. May be Stanzaic continuing with the rhyme scheme efefghgh, etc.

My iambic foot went astray for a moment in the fifth line. Although I wasn’t planning this, the line jumps out as this in the tine that beckons the sailor, the call of the Siren. It worked well I think. Please tag me or let me know if you try my form. Thanks.

Enjoy the fun of The Sunday Whirl, where you are given a set of words you must incorporate within a poem. I find these fun and challenging.
