It’s March and it’s been in the 80’s and 90’s here in Central California. Unseasonably hot. Summer, wait your turn!
Turning
Summer’s half-trying to rush in.
Snow on the mountain melts away.
Spring, don’t let summer change your coarse,
But, in turn, let us taste of you,
Through the nectar of your gardens.
Let us use your resin to craft
Treasures to sell and give away.
May we be mesmerized when you’ve
Rubbed rosin on your cello’s bow
And your strings play glorious tunes
Through the humming of birds and bees.
Give fragrances that make us pause
And linger with heady delight,
Passion, and sweetness. Not by luck,
But by the snap from the Lord’s hand.
Summer, take a rest, a tacit.
Spring, awaken; do His bidding.
I pray that is God’s direction.
God conducts the seasons, and there’s
No shadow of turning with Him.
