I love learning new words. Today’s word is cathect (kuh-THECT): to invest emotional or mental energy to a person, object, or idea – intense attachment. Decathect means the opposite. To decathect is to consciously withdraw emotional attachment often as a coping mechanism to protect oneself from pain or grief in anticipation of a loss.
A promise kept to right a push and pull love scenario.
Push & Pull
As I cathect,
You decathect.
Are you afraid?
Don’t pull away;
Don’t push away.
Don’t push me far
When love gets hard.
Don’t be afraid.
Don’t pull away;
Don’t push away.
Just pull me to;
I won’t leave you.
I’m not afraid.
Don’t pull away;
Don’t push away.
You’ve pulled. You’ve pushed.
I’m loved, then crushed.
Please, won’t you stay.
Don’t pull away;
Don’t push away.

This is really good! The way you wrote it into the poetry helped me grasp the new words meaning. Hugs
Thanks so much for your encouragement!
