Save Me

Sunday Whirl challenge.
Prompt words: spill, still, wish, limits, fit, distant, ring, silky, key, list, bill, smoke
A couple of the words I used in some form of the root word. I know i say this often, but I love these poetry challenges.

Save Me

The night lies still,
Save for the bell
Ringing in the distance.
Royal guards fit their stance.

I place the long key
And a short list for me
In a pile, ’neath the king’s bill,
Letters stained, a splattered spill.

Silky smoke rises, swirls
From the chimney. My world’s
Limits: wishes, hopes, trusted friends;
This room, never leaving its ends.

Will my love deliver me?
Save me, love, I wait for thee.
