Goals for 2022

Happy New Year!

2022 is bringing on the craziness! I hope you are wearing your hazmat suit. Good grief!

Resolutions just are too resolute. I prefer goals. Each year, I write out all my goals, knowing there aren’t enough hours in the day to get them done. But it makes me feel good to get them down on paper. I do look at them throughout the year to see if I’m getting anything done. LOL. I enjoy scratching things off my list.

Although I do not achieve many of my goals, others find their way into my daily routine throughout the year, and I am usually happy with the year’s result (except the part of always eating healthy, keeping my A1C under control, and losing that extra weight). Darn it all!

Anyway, I break down my goals into sections of my life; spiritual, mental, physical, financial, work, music/art, family. I also include subsections within sections; poetry, writing, blogging, social media, education, workshops, instruments, etc. Most of these are for work. Although, there are many that bleed over into each other.

Writing poetry, for example, is a subset of most of my goal sections. I write poetry about and for God for spiritual growth. Writing poetry about or for my family is something I do often. Mentally, poetry releases stress and any anxiety I may have. I’ve been writing books about how to write poetry, using my own examples, so for work. I hope to sell them so financially, too. Many of my poems end up being lyrics, so they fall into the music category. The Like That series are poetry chapbooks I’ve been compiling. I’ll be selling them this year so they also fall under work/financial.

I can, pretty much, say the same thing about music, as it has been my main profession for the last 40 years.

This last year, poetry took a strong lead. I have an idea it will continue to be so this year, but I am bound and determined to finish at least one novel out of two I started.

So, what are your goals for this year? I’d really like to know.
