Favorite Historical Figure?

Daily writing prompt
Who is your favorite historical figure?

There is no other name that comes close; no other figure in history has changed this world like Jesus. Jesus’ birth split time. BC – Before Christ and AD – Anno Domini, Latin for in the year of our Lord. Lives are changed for good, and many are still martyred for their faith in him. Countries and even families are divided over the mention of his name. Some think of him as a religion, others as a redeemer. Some think he was a good man and prophet, others believe that he is the only Son of God. If you check out the prophecies in the Bible, he has fulfilled all the ones pertaining to the coming suffering Servant, the Messiah, the one Isaiah wrote about in chapter 53, hundreds of years before Jesus was born. (There are prophecies clear back in the beginning, in the Garden of Eden when Adan and Eve disobeyed God.)

Born of a virgin in Bethlehem, Jesus lived a perfect life. He gave his life for us on the cross, shedding his blood, to reconcile us back to God. He died. He was buried. He rose again on the third day. Over 500 hundred people were witnesses of this.

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” John 3:16-17. (King James Version)

He will come again as a reigning king to judge the living and the dead, and the remainder of the prophecies will be realized on that great and terrible day. Great for those who believe and terrible for those who do not. His words, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but by me.” (John 14:6)

My life is changed for the better by knowing Jesus, believing in him, and believing in his sacrifice for me. Knowing about him is not enough. The demons know who he is, and they shutter. Trusting Jesus is the greatest decision of a lifetime. He paid our sin debt, a blood sacrifice to satisfy the wrath of God. His death grants us God’s mercy if we surrender our lives to him. Have you trusted Jesus? Today is the day of salvation. He’ll wipe your slate clean before the righteous and holy, living God. Without hope in Jesus, our sin’s wages require punishment. But with faith in Jesus, hell will no longer be the destination, Heaven will be your new home. Trust Jesus today.
