Subject Authority

On what subject(s) are you an authority?

I suppose it would be difficult to teach something I didn’t know or have not studied. And even if I have studied, how good of a student was I? Did the teaching go through one ear and out the other? So I have asked myself these questions before answering this authority question.

1. Do you have a degree in the subject? Yes, with honors.

2. How long have you been teaching voice? 25 years

3. What is your experience? Singing for over fifty years and in a few languages. Lifetime of choirs and ensembles. Recording artist. Back-up singer, soloist, lead soprano, three seasons with the Eugene Opera, voice teacher/coach. Music teacher for private school. International music theory teacher. Songwriter, lyricist.

Do you play any other instruments? Yes. I play piano, recorder (soprano and alto), Native American flute, guitar (though it’s been a while) and many small percussion instruments.

Okay. I’m pretty sure I can say I have subject authority in music, primarily voice.
