Harmony

What could you let go of, for the sake of harmony?

Painfully, I have drowned in dissonance and endured chaos in caustic choirs. I longed for the sweetest timbre in a tessitura perfect for my life-song. But da capos and repeat signs filled the score.

I begged for blissful harmonies, melodies and lyrics that marry well, a decrescendo of the dreariness of dissonance, and a climactic crescendo created for glorious angelic voices.
Our world is a calliope cacophony, a full-stop fortissimo.

"Turn it off! Silence these deceptive cadences!" my soul cried.

I tuned out the noise and turned off the nonsense on the radio. The distortion button's chord was cut, and the speaker's cable, given tacet measures.

A fermata of peace I found, a rest of relief. Ah, but for the pleasantness of the pastoral finale.

  1. When I read the title, I thought of Harmoney as getting along. I then read your answer and it was music. I am not a musician and most of the terms you mentioned I have no idea what they mean but I did understand that you longed for sweet sounds that came together to sound smooth and in sync.
