What’s the story behind your nickname?
Well, here’s the story. Kaci isn’t my given or legal name. It’s not on my driver’s license, and doctors and the IRS don’t call me Kaci.
My mom and dad gave me my grandma’s middle name for my first name and for my middle name, dad named me after the prettiest girl in his highschool. Not sure how my mom felt about that one, but it stuck, at least on my birth certificate. 😉
My baby book listed my given name and promptly, thereafter in quotes, the name everyone knows me by. I don’t know how they chose Kaci. It isn’t a shorter version of my given name, but I’m glad they did. I love it.
Growing up my mom disliked “nicknames” so I never grew up with one. But as an adult one of the women who had Down’s in the group home, I worked in could not say my name very well, so she gave me a nickname of Pooha I was wearing s shirt with Pooh bear on it. Pooha sounds like Mocha as the a at the end was very pronounced by her. I loved my nickname 🙂 but only she called me that. I could never get anyone else to ever call me Pooha. So, i guess it makes it even more special.
