Golden Pick

As an introduction, I need to reference a Golden Shovel (in the acrostic family) a poem that uses a line from another poem as end words. I decided to use this concept except as beginning words of each line. Thus, I have dubbed this form as the Golden Pick. As always, one should give attribution. I have used words from the Spiritual, Give Me Jesus. This poem is in my latest ebook, Hope Like That: Poetry for the Hopeful Heart which will be released at the end of August 2023.

Give Me Jesus
IN everything that I do,
THE Lord be with me,
MORNING, noon, evening, and night.
WHEN I’m happy or afraid,
I know I need to trust You;
RISE, lift my face, and
GIVE You my every waking moment.
ME, my dreams, hopes, longings, I give You,
JESUS.

YOU who don’t yet know Christ,
CAN know Him today;
HAVE hope for the future,
ALL forgiven and washed clean.
THIS rebirth of hope and life turns you from a
WORLD full of sin’s alluring enticements.
GIVE Jesus all you are. Allow
ME to introduce my dearest friend,
JESUS.
