Goals? How do you make and keep them? Are you already behind? In some ways, I am. But I can redeem the time if I’m careful and intentional. Remember to give yourself rest days and vacation days throughout the year. Also, don’t get upset about sick days. Yesterday, I didn’t feel well and took a nap. It is what it is. Give yourself grace. Do what you can do when you can do it.
Honestly, I’m usually not too keen on keeping up with all my goals. I’ve never been much of a list maker, and if I do make a list, I don’t always hold to it. Don’t get me wrong, I accomplish quite a bit each year, but not all I’d hoped for. I buy a yearly planner and write down my goals for the entire year. As a creative person, there are “ah-ha” moments that become add-ons during the year. Many projects are sloughed aside for others. So, this year, I’m being more intentional. I am making myself accountable to my Facebook friends. I make a weekly list, take a photo of accomplishments that I have jotted down in my day-timer, and post it on my page. I hope to continue in this pattern, accomplishing that which is on my big set of goals that I have broken down for that particular week. So far, so good. If you’re an encourager, feel free to bouy a friend. Those you encourage will be mighty grateful.
Here is an acrostic to help with your goals.
G – Get your goal on paper. (Writing them instead of typing makes a difference for me.)
O – Organize your day. When can you fit in your goals between family time and work schedule?
A – Accountability really helps! Find a friend that will encourage your goals; send them updates.
L – Look at your goals often. Break them down into weekly and daily lists. So helpful!
S – Settle on the things that are priorities. Get those done first. It’ll make you smile!
Oh, got a gig in two days (February 10). Better get to practicing! Chat soon!
I have a Love/Hate relationship with goals LOL.
