What do you want to be?

When you were five, what did you want to be when you grew up?

My mommy woke us up with a song everyday. She’s been gone for over twenty years, but I can still hear her pretty voice today. She was the alto to my soprano. We sang together at church and for fun in the kitchen at home.

My mommy said that I was singing before I was talking. It’s all I ever wanted to do. So I took music lessons, got my degree in music, and even sang in the opera for three years.

When I was five, I wanted to be a singer. I still do. I still am.

You can read more about my music on my about page, if you’d like.

What did you want to be when you were five?

  1. Hummmm I have no idea what I wanted to be when I was 5. I knew I did not want to take naps in Kindergarten, I wanted to read or draw instead. I don’t know if it was how I was raised in a non-emotional home or my autism, but I never did β€œdream” about anything past the actual day/moment I was in. When I got older, I learned too never share anything that resembled a dream as mom would remind me, I was wasting my time thinking about things that were never going to happen and always to act my age and not embarrass her. So, I am still learning how to dream at age 59. But honestly it is hard because I do not see/believe those hopes and dreams will ever come true.

      1. Yes and I am beginning to allow myself to do that. I have to rebuke Satan often as he throws fiery darts at me when I do but I am getting better at deflecting them πŸ™‚

  2. Kaci, you are so talented. You were our Garys first teacher on piano. He learned from the best started out playing. You are a beautiful person I nside and out. So glad we reconnected.
