What could you do more of?
This is the question, isn’t it? Is it a conundrum? Or are there practical steps. Actions speak louder than words. Here’s my list of don’t and do deeds:
Don’t:
- Don’t Scroll. Do what I need to do on SM and exit the toxic merry-go-round. There’s just too much nonsense out there. It’s clouding minds, causing division.
- Don’t procrastinate so much. These last two weeks I’ve gotten little done. My back has been really jacked up. Pain causes a lot of stress, especially when on a scale of 1-10, the pain is teetering on the brink of 11. But…I must say, my tendency, procrastination. I’m easily distracted by a new idea, by my phone. I need to focus.
Do:
- Sing more. Get out instruments, and play them. But definitely sing more. Singing is therapy.
- Write more. Poetry is my first go-to. I strive to write a poem each day. Sometimes, I fail. Other times, I write several. More therapy for me.
- Publish poetry books: I have self published nine lovely, illustrated eBooks. I’ve written enough poetry to publish twenty more. Get on it! If you’re interested check out my store. 🙂
- Edit and publish my series on how-to-write poetry. I have twelve workbooks so far.
- Finish one manuscript: Currently, I have four. I know. Ridiculous. One is nearly complete. One is 70 percent finished. Another is at about 40 percent, and the fourth, a few chapters in. In reality, I have many more stories in the queue.
- Write short stories: I’m writing a short story a month for Deadlines for Writers. This has been a fantastic platform to help me with deadlines. Problem is that I write a short story and, all of the sudden, I have a new manuscript in mind. Therefore, I am currently writing scenes for these as stand alone stories, using this platform. A win-win, for sure!
- Market more: okay, I loathe this one, but if I want to sell my books, I have to do it. Darn it! So… I’m a writer, come check out my eBooks in my store. I’ve got some great reviews!
- Exercise: notice I didn’t say more? I’m not doing it at all. But it is a must if I want to be able to walk and do; to hold my grandbabies, to hike and travel. To ultimately live. Get my blood sugar under control and my body limber are the main concerns. Dancing is a good idea!
- Pray more. I don’t always have an attitude of prayer. The Bible says to pray without ceasing; meaning to have a good prayer life, keeping Christ foremost in my thoughts throughout the day. Don’t let the worries of this world weigh me down. Thankful? Tell Him. Afraid? Tell Him. Frustrated? Talk to God. Worried? Get it off my chest. Failed? Confession is good for my soul.
Attitude definitely counts. Without a positive one, situations spiral. So I must have an attitude of gratitude even if my back is spasming and the world is out of control. Don’t allow others to change my attitude. Either mentally give them permission or don’t. Don’t let emotions rule. Because a bad attitude provokes, and evil results. Don’t buy into all the hype out there. Love others, and live peaceably.
Blessings,
Kaci
