The Crash

I’ve been participating in prompt challenges. My brain happens to take me to strange places. This one, to a fictional crash scene. SundayWhirl.com always has 12 great prompt words. Join in the fun! This week the words are: ravenous, lurked, shame, space, found, glass, hollow, flicker, rattled, slip, red, crash. Here’s the result.

The Crash

Rattled and ravenous,
I slipped out my phone,
The glass, shattered.
Danger lurked.
Red spots?
Blood?

Was it mine or mother’s?
Collapsed space – found her.
Mother was dead.
Where were we?
Brain fog.
Crash.

“You don’t listen to me!”
Words echoed, flickered.
My soul hollow.
Shame slipped in.
Piercing
Pain.

  1. Kaci, I love your story, ‘The Crash’. It is so relevant to how people are behind the wheel and on the cell phone. It is so dangerous. In the blink of an eye, you look at your phone and a fatal crash can occur.
